The Lakes Hotel & Conference Centre
The Lakes Hotel and Conference Centre, East of Johannesburg, is conveniently situated 10 minutes away from OR Tambo International Airport. The Lakes Hotel has 150 air-conditioned, comfortably styled rooms, with well established conference facilities, and function rooms that cater for most needs. Guests can park their cars in the ample and secure parking areas situated around the hotel.
The hotel originally started as a 16 bed roomed Country Lake Inn Hotel and has grown to 144 rooms over the years, with many different stages of alterations. The hotel has been a local treasure for many people, as it is a beautiful setting for wedding receptions.
This hotel is one of the most well known hotels in this area as it is built along the banks of the natural lakes of Benoni, and can be seen from the N12 Highway. The water Ski-World next door has hosted many shows with both local and international skiing competitions. The hotel has its own restaurant and sundowner bar facing onto the picturesque lake, where our guests can look out onto the relaxing water or watch the skiers on the water.
We have a barge that can be hired out for company or corporate functions or even to host a small birthday or family celebration. The barge can accommodate 30 people maximum, and we can cater for such events. The Lakes Hotel offers fully inclusive packages for conferences, banqueting, promotions, presentation parties, company functions, wedding receptions and riverboat excursions.
Set on the banks of a string of natural lakes, this 3 star hotel has easy access to many shopping malls, sport fields and Casinos, only 5 to 15 minutes away. The Lakeside Mall ( only a few Km’s away) and the east rand mall ( only 8 Minutes away) both have many shops and boutiques to entice any shopper. If you do not feel like shopping, one can relax and enwind, in one of the many restaurants or coffee shops, or even catch up on the latest movies showing at the Cinema theatres. The Hotel was build adjacent to the Lakes Golf Club, which is in the heart of suburbia, yet close to all major highways.
Rooms:
Our rooms are large and spacious and are all comfortable with en-suite bathrooms. Our bedding is simple and uncomplicated with crisp white duvet coordinates and soft pillows.
African Sun Hotels recently spent over 1 million in June changing to the new linen.
Every room is equipped with air conditioners to cope with any weather conditions. Each guest has tea and coffee making facilities in their rooms. On arrival one can relax and unwind with a cup of tea and watch your favourite channel on TV 1, 2, 3, E-TV or M-net. Each room has a remote control for the TV and TV Guide.
Majority of our rooms have stand alone showers and others stand in the bath showers. All our rooms are equipped with bathroom amenities like shower gel, shower cap, shampoo, body lotion and soap. If guests need to press a few items of clothes, an iron and ironing board can be provided free of charge. Any Laundry items requested to be washed, will be charged for accordingly.
Standard Room
Although they are all standard, some rooms vary slightly to others due to the shape of the room and its location in the hotel. There are some rooms facing out over the lakes view and others onto the swimming pool or parking area. 144 standard rooms

These rooms have 2 x twin queen beds in the rooms - 29 Queen beds (single)
These rooms have queen size beds and are allocated as “single rooms” or can be sharing - 4 Twin Double beds (sharing)
These rooms have 2 x double beds in the room - 4 Twin ¾ beds (sharing)
These rooms are the only rooms with smaller sized beds, perfect for children sharing - 2 King Leisure (sharing or single)
Each of these rooms have a king size bed and a balcony overlooking the lake - 2 Suites (sharing or single)
Each suite has a much larger living area and is ideal for long staying guests.

Whether you drive to the hotel in your vehicle, or arrive in a bus, there is ample free secure parking. If you are staying for a short nights stop over or a long week/ weekend, there are so many facilities to participate in that will ensure you never get bored. Our transfer company will gladly drop you off and collect you from any of the surrounding Malls (eg: Lakeside Mall, approximately 1 km away, or the East Rand Mall, 4 Km’s away).
Meetings & Events:
Our conference rooms are placed around the building in different areas of the hotel.
Conference rooms 9,8,and 7 are all situated facing the lakes with beautiful views of the water and garden. The Conference 9 (our largest conference venue) is often used for wedding receptions or gala evening events. This room lends itself to an “out of town atmosphere” and is perfect for wedding photos in the garden, with the lakes as a backdrop.
Conference rooms 6, 5,4 and 3 are situated around the swimming pool and court yard
area, and vary in capacity depending on the individuals seating needs. Conference 1 and 2 are the most recent additions to the conference compliment and are based upstairs over looking the swimming pool and reception area. These large rooms have a small undercover terrace separating them which makes for a refreshing break away from being indoors. Located on site are 9 air-conditioned conference rooms and 1 boardroom. Seating capacity from 2pax to 400 pax cinema style.

Dining:
We have a separate lounge and restaurant area that can handle any overflow in our restaurant, for larger groups. Our restaurant is a buffet restaurant and caters for everyone’s needs. Special requests like Halaal can be catered for as well. A full Buffet breakfast, complete with cut fruits, croissants and home made muffins, to full English, awaits our guests in the mornings.
Main Dining Room
The main dining room faces onto the lake and has a seating capacity of 85 pax. The African ambience in the restaurant and the fusion of South African and western food, makes for a winning combination. Our restaurant is a buffet restaurant.

Lunch Times are from 12h00- 15h00
Dinner times are from 18h30 – 21h00
Sundowner bar
Before or after dinner, drinks can be enjoyed on the terrace (weather permitting) or inside our Sundowner bar overlooking the scenic lake. The Bar opens from 07h00 until 24h00pm, and we can serve anything from Cappuccino’s to Cocktails
